The club
Founded in 1912 and owned by its members.
Our history
Kinsale has come through a War of Independence, two world wars and three changes of home.
- 1912The club is founded at a site on the Bandon river.
- 1922The club moves to Charles Fort, where its first clubhouse is built in 1926.
- 1930Difficulties with landowners bring another move, to Ringenane overlooking the Belgooly river. Members transport the clubhouse to its new home themselves.
- 1983Unable to buy adjoining land at Ringenane, “scarcely free of feet” as it was once described, the club starts a land fund with its sights on 18 holes.
- 1993The chance comes: 122 acres of farmland at Farrangalway, in the Bandon river valley.
- 1995The 18-hole course at Farrangalway opens.
- 2012In its centenary year, the club hosts the All Ireland Finals of the Cups and Shields.
- 2018Kinsale wins its first Munster pennant in the Jimmy Bruen Shield, then a second in the Barton Shield.
- 2019The club wins its first national pennant, the All Ireland Jimmy Bruen Shield. John Murphy wins the St Andrews Links Trophy and becomes the club’s first international, playing in the World Championships.
